Born and raised in Slovenjia, Spela Lenarcic moved to Paris to start her career as a model, working for Haute Couture designers of the time such as Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, Hubert de Givenchy, Albert Elbaz at Guy Laroche, Yves Saint Laurent and Ted Lapidus.
Observing the meticulous work of those couturiers and their “savoir faire”, Spela started to develop her incredible talent to anticipate and launch fashion tendencies, which helped her later on for further stylist consultancies.
After assisting Carine Roitfeld’s team at French Vogue, she quickly became one of the most respected fashion editor of our time.
Spela is contributing to the most influent magazines such as Vogue (Italy and Germany), Russian Harper’s Bazaar, The Observer but she expresses her creativity also through the most avant guarde titles such as i-D, Tush and Tank. She is currently Fashion Director of the prestigious “M” Le Monde.
Extensive experience has allowed Spela to collaborate with remarkable photographers such as Nathaniel Goldberg, Javier Vallhonrat, Nan Goldin, David Armstrong, Paolo Roversi, Peter Lindbergh, Deborah Turbeville, Miles Aldrige, Mathias Vriens, Philippe Decoufflé, Bettina Rheims, Sebastien Kim, Satoshi Saikusa, Ben Hassett, Annette Aurel, Jean Francois Bourcart, Brigitte Niedermair, Jean François Campos, Markus Pritzi, Sophie Delaporte, Stefano Galuzzi, Karina Taira and Felix Lammers.
Spela is very well known for her global approach to fashion which allows her to combine perfectly art and vision with business and market demands.
Among brands who trusts her directions over multiple seasons she counts Akris, Celine, Givenchy, Rochas, Cerruti, Moon Young Hee, Istvan Francer, Aganovich and Jesus del Pozo.
In addition to her editorial work Spela has also styled a number of advertising campaigns such as Celine, Hugo Boss Orange, Sonia Rykiel, Le Bon Marché, Versus, Cartier, Chaumet, Swarowski, Chopard parfum, Escada parfum, Dior, Lançome, L’Oreal, Nina Ricci, Chopard, Shiseido just to name a few.
Spela’s creativity and professionalism is measurable also through the list of celebrities with whom she has worked, including Asia Argento, Amira Cazar, Bruno Todeschni, Devon, Elodie Bouchez, Elodie Navarre, Emmanuelle Seigner, Eva Longoria, Julie Ordon, Kerry Washington, Linda Evangelista, Milla Jovovich and Maggie Cheung.
