Maria
Olsson was born and raised in Malmö, Sweden.
She arrived in Paris just after finishing school,
and worked as a fashion model for a number of years.
Maria’s passion for painting pastel portraits
along with her love of fashion and beauty photography led to a new
career in 1995 when she started working as a make-up artist with
the very creative photographer, Vincent Peters.
She soon met other great photographers such
as Sølve Sundsbø, Mario Testino, Mert Atlas &
Marcus Piggott, Satoshi, Sophia Sanchez & Mauro Mongiello, Mondino,
Michaelangelo Di Battista, Tomas Krappitz, Michael Sanders, Alex
Caley, Karen Collins, Dmon Prunner, David Vasiljevic, Thomas Nutzl
whom she continues to enjoy working with.
Karl Lagerfeld has placed his trust in Maria’s
talent several times in recent years.
Her creative make-up reflects her artistic
sensibility, be it very natural or using more dramatic effects.
“Her editorial work can be seen in Vogue
(Australian, British, Italian), Harper’s Bazaar,
Citizen K, L’officiel, Numéro,
Gloss, V, Dazed & Confused, Jalouse
and The Face. Besides her editorial work, Maria has contributed
to advertising campaigns including YSL, Lancôme, Lancel, Miu
Miu, Prada Sport, La Perla, Paul & Joe, L’Oréal,
Bally, Patrick Cox and Helena Rubinstein.
She has collaborated on fashion shows for Fendi,
Bally, Alexandre et Matthieu, Ruffo Resurch and Keita Maruyama.
Among the celebrities with whom Maria has worked
with are Liz Hurley, Charlotte Rampling, Emmanuelle Seigner, Juliette
Binoche, Sophie Marceau, Anna Mouglalis, Diane Krüger, Inès
Sastre, Estelle Lefebure, Monica Bellucci, Charlotte Gainsbourg,
Lou Doillon, Vanessa Paradis and Virginie Ledoyen.
Maria has her home in Paris, but takes pleasure
in traveling and working all over the world. |
